'Divorce Act ISO' refers to the interjurisdictional support applications process under sections 18 through 19.1 of the Divorce Act. This process is a paper-based application where, in most cases, the person applying for support (or to change support) files their paperwork in Nova Scotia, which is reviewed and sent to the respondent’s province or territory to be scheduled for a court hearing. The process is similar to the existing process under provincial ISO laws (or NS ISO).
Remember, ’ISO’ stands for the interjurisdictional support order process in general, whether under Divorce Act ISO or NS ISO. For more information on the ISO process in general, click here.
